Frontal view of a 2 story country styled home with a front porch that has an overhang that is supported by 7 wood square columns. The front steps and porch are made of stone tiles. The home siding appears to be cedar shingling. There is a nice flower bed in front of the porch.

Columbus Cottage

Design by Garrell and Associates

Size – 8,300 square feet

This home overlooks the North Georgia mountains on a 120-acre family estate. It’s located in Dahlonega Georgia, home to the first major U.S. gold rush in 1829. Considering the area’s history, the owners designed the lower-level bar area to mimic an old mine. The walls are covered in stone, the ceilings in reclaimed beams and the space decorated with antique mining tools.

A traditional design, the home features hand scraped reclaimed hardwood floors, hand hewn custom beams and large windows to view the scene to the north.

This is one of two custom homes Peppers Construction built on the property for the family along with a professional equestrian center including stables with living quarters above for the family’s horse trainer.

The estate is truly a North Georgia gem.
